About

The Coalition Against Abuse in Relationships believes all men, women and children have the right to live without physical, sexual, economical and emotional abuse.


“The Coalition Against Abuse in Relationships” (C.A.A.R.) is a non-profit organization representing many service providers. These members work directly or indirectly with victims and/or perpetrators of violence in relationships. Created in 1990, it attempts to improve awareness of and access to services to the victims and/or perpetrators of abuse through public education and lobbying activities. The ultimate goal is to break and/or prevent the cycle of violence.


Those involved come from the broadest spectrum of agencies:


  • Government Departments including Health, Family and Community Services, Public Safety, Women’s Issues Branch, NB Advisory Council on the Status of Women
  • Police and other Justice personnel
  • Educational establishments – schools, administrations and district offices, universities
  • The faith community (churches)
  • Several private and/or non-profit agencies
  • Concerned citizens
